Let's talk transfers

Robert Lewandoski is a player known throughout the footballing world for consistently performing well at the most prestigious tournaments and he has done so throughout this career. Lewandoski has been one of the best goal scorers in recent seasons and after eight years at FC Bayern Munich his time there as finally come to an end. During his time at Bayern he played 374 games, scored 344 goals, won 19 trophies and won several other individual honors such as the Ballon d'Or in 2021 and the Best FIFA Men's Player in 2020.

The Pole is set to become a FC Barcelona player by signing a 3-year deal until 2025 with the option of a 4th year included in the contract. The transfer cost Barca 45 million Euros in fixed fees and an additional 5 million Euros in variables. This might sound expensive but considering the market conditions, the ability and pedigree of Lewandoski, Barca have got themselves a great deal. Lewandoski turns 34 in August but his age is of no concern to Barca fans and the club. He's not an average player; arch rivals Real Madrid have Karim Benzema who turns 35 this year and arguably performed at his best ever last season. Lewandoski trains extremely hard and his fitness and injury record is a testament to that.

Lewandoski is in incredible condition; the way that he trains, the way that he takes care of his body, the nutrition, the sleep, the recovery. Pep Guardiola when he was the head coach at Bayern Munich said "He is the most professional player I have ever met. In his head, he thinks about the right food, sleep and training 24 hours a day. He is always there, never injured because he focuses on the things to keep him in the best condition." Taking a look at his injury record it's safe to say that the guy just never gets injured. Lewandoski has only missed 17 games in 7 years! What Lewandoski brings to this Barca team is goals – He is simply put a goal scoring machine. Barca has been lacking in the final third and what the team needs is that clinical finishing touch. Ever since Luis Suarez left the team for Atletico Madrid, Barca haven’t been able to find someone of his caliber to replace him until now. It has taken 2 years and after losing Messi to PSG in 2021 Barca have been in dire need of a top goal scorer.

It is difficult to imagine that only a couple of years ago Barca had Messi, Suarez and Neymar as their front three. Barca won the UEFA Champions League back in 2015 with the trio, and it has been downhill since then, barring some good individual performances. People following Barcelona closely know Lionel Messi bailed out the team on several occasions in recent seasons. The star striker’s brilliance has won matches despite the Spanish club’s poor performances and contentious management decisions. Robert Seven years later, Lewandoski’s transfer to the team has given the club a unique opportunity to perform well in the Champions League and what better way than Lewandoski leading the pack?
